Over the last couple of months, a few of my clients have confided in me regarding several scams that are taking place by escorts. This is both alarming and worrying... it also makes my job even harder.
The main scam seems to be involving escorts that find a client on Facebook by using their phone number and then embark on a relentless mission to try and obtain money from the clients. It seems that this scam starts when a client cancels a booking or refuses to buy the escort gifts or tribute for things that are not related to the booking.
Red flags to look out for:
Escorts should not ask you to pay for anything in advance other than a deposit if that is part of their booking procedure
Escorts should not be asking for yours social media accounts or photos
Escorts should not be sending you wishlists or things for you to tribute towards unless you have asked for it.
Any form of financial transaction other than a deposit should be viewed as a red flag.
Ways to protect yourself from scammers:
Where possible, remove your phone number from your social media accounts and/or look at the settings regarding how people can find you.
Restrict the ways that people can find you on Facebook, there are some tips here.
Do not share personal information with escorts until there is a level of trust which usually comes from regular sessions.
Use a second phone for arranging sessions, one that does not have any social media installed.
Look out for verified profiles. For a profile to be verified an escort must upload ID which means that they are traceable.
If you have connected with the scammer via Onlyfans then they will have had to upload ID and bank details which also makes them traceable.
Unfortunately there are scammers in every business and the adult services business is not different. Please don't let these people put you off enjoying experiences with the genuine service providers.
If you are a victim of an escort related scam then please report it to the police and to the websites where they advertise.
